What is a postpartum doula?
Babies are a joy, but they also introduce unfamiliar challenges: physical recovery, tricky feedings, disrupted sleep, emotional strain, and identity shifts. A postpartum doula acts as a nonjudgmental sounding board, support person, and guide through this tender terrain. Think of it like enlisting a seasoned friend without the guilt of asking favors.
Parenting choices can be hot button topics at an especially vulnerable time: breast or bottle, swaddles, pacifiers, co-sleeping, sleep training, visitors. I'm happy to offer advice on best practices if it's desired, but I don't have any agenda other than helping parents feel empowered, comfortable, and confident in their choices and new roles. My only aim is to zero in on how you can all reach your full potential as a new family.
I'm a certified and trained postpartum doula and mother of two who lives on the north shore of Boston. My superpower is listening. Need to feel heard, to be transparent, to live truthfully? I know how hard this stage of life can be. I've been there. I'm an open book. You can be too.
"From the moment she stepped into our home, her calm, caring presence made me feel supported and understood. She connected so naturally with my toddler, keeping her happy, engaged, and feeling special while I cared for my newborn. She also helped us get out of the house, whether for walks or trips to the park, which made a world of difference for my mental and emotional well-being. What stood out most was the genuine care Alena brought to our family. She wasn’t just helping with tasks, she was helping carry the emotional load of those early postpartum weeks. Her kindness, encouragement, and willingness to jump in wherever needed gave me the confidence to navigate life with two little ones. I will always be grateful for the support she provided, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for compassionate, thoughtful, and nurturing postpartum care."

"Alena helped care for my baby and me after I was involved in a serious accident that left me completely unable to use my entire right arm. I I had so much difficulty completing everyday tasks, but mostly I couldn’t care for my infant, which was very distressing for me. Having Alena here was both comforting and reassuring that my baby was being well cared for. The moment she came into my house I felt calm and relaxed, and I noticed the baby immediately felt her warm energy. He took to her right away."
